The much-anticipated Noida International Airport in Jawar, Uttar Pradesh, is nearing completion and gearing up for commercial operations. According to a senior official, full-crew tests for commercial passenger flights are scheduled to begin by November 30, 2023, with the airport aiming for a full commercial launch by March 2024.
The Civil Aviation Ministry has urged Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) to finalize flight scheduling and accelerate preparations ahead of the operational launch. This push underscores the government’s commitment to meeting key deadlines for this crucial project.
On October 3, 2023, a meeting was held in Gautam Buddh Nagar to discuss the airport’s progress. Representatives from key stakeholders, including the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Authority, NIAL, and several independent engineers involved in the project, attended the meeting. Discussions centered around finalizing operational readiness, flight schedules, and securing the necessary regulatory approvals for the upcoming tests and commercial operations.
The airport is expected to play a significant role in alleviating congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, providing a vital alternative for both domestic and international travelers. With commercial operations slated to begin by March 2024, the airport is projected to handle a large number of passengers, contributing to the region’s economic growth and cementing Uttar Pradesh’s position as a major player in India’s aviation industry.
