Former Indian Cricket Captain Azharuddin Summoned by ED in Hyderabad

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin to its office in Hyderabad. This summons comes as part of the ongoing investigation into alleged misappropriation of funds from the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).

Azharuddin, who served as the president of the HCA from 2019 to 2023, is being questioned by the ED about his alleged involvement in the misuse of funds during his tenure. The ED is examining financial transactions and other documents related to the HCA to ascertain the veracity of the allegations.

The ED’s investigation is based on a complaint filed by the HCA against Azharuddin and other officials. The complaint alleges that funds were misappropriated and misused for personal gain.

Azharuddin, a renowned cricketer who led India to the 1992 World Cup final, has denied any wrongdoing and maintains his innocence. He has expressed his willingness to cooperate with the ED’s investigation and provide all necessary information.

The ED’s probe is expected to continue in the coming days, and further developments in the case are anticipated.
