Indian Golfers Struggle at Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship saw a mixed bag of fortunes for Indian golfers in the first two rounds. Shubhankar Sharma, despite shooting even par rounds at Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, found himself tied at 139th place. Om Prakash Chouhan, unfortunately, faced a tougher outing, finishing tied at 154th after rounds of 71 and 75. Sharma still has one more round to play, while Chouhan will be playing his third round at Carnoustie.

Meanwhile, the competition witnessed a surge from Nicolas Colsaerts, who utilized his extensive knowledge of the courses to shoot a stunning 65, securing a share of the lead with Cameron John after the second round. Colsaerts, who previously won the event in 2012, kicked off his campaign with another impressive 65 at the Old Course at St Andrews. His performance at the challenging Carnoustie, where he recorded eight birdies and just one bogey, including notable gains on the difficult ninth and 17th holes, put him firmly in contention for a fourth DP World Tour title.

John, who currently sits at 1007th in the Official World Golf Ranking, also made a strong showing. He followed his opening 62 at Kingsbarns with a 68 on the Old Course, securing a share of the lead with a brilliant birdie at the 17th.

In the team event, Scottish pair Grant Forrest and Martin Gilbert are leading the pack after two rounds, sitting at a comfortable 24 under par.

The competition promises to be exciting as the golfers navigate the challenging courses in the remaining rounds. With a strong field and unpredictable weather, the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is sure to be a thrilling spectacle for golf enthusiasts.
