Maldives President Amazed by Taj Mahal, Emphasizes India’s Support During Bilateral Visit

Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed embarked on a tour of India, stopping at the iconic Taj Mahal on Tuesday. The president was visibly struck by the architectural marvel of the 17th-century monument, finding it hard to put its beauty into words. He inscribed in the visitors’ book, “It is tough to describe this mausoleum’s beauty as words simply cannot do it justice. This mesmerizing intricacy and attention to detail is a testament to love and architectural excellence.”

The president’s visit, part of a four-day bilateral agenda, has focused on strengthening ties between the two countries. Upon his arrival, President Muizzu received a warm welcome from Uttar Pradesh Minister Yogendra Upadhyay, who presented him with a replica of the Taj Mahal. Discussions have also centered around exploring trans-shipment facilities and bunkering services as part of the Maldives Economic Gateway project. Additionally, India will continue to support the development of Hanimaadhoo and Gan airports, along with other airports in the Maldives.

President Muizzu’s visit underscores the deep and historic ties between India and the Maldives. It is a testament to the commitment both countries have to strengthen their partnership for mutual benefit and regional stability.
