From October 7th to 13th, Aeroplan Members have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children facing medical challenges. This program provides crucial air travel for children who require medical treatment that is unavailable in their communities.
For over two decades, the Hospital Transportation Program has been a lifeline for families across Canada. Last year, the program received an astounding 67.7 million points, with over half of those donations coming from outside Canada. These donations made a tangible difference in the lives of countless children and families, assisting 15 pediatric hospitals nationwide.
The power of this program is best illustrated by stories like Benjamin’s. In 2023, his mother noticed a bump on his back and sought medical advice locally. Benjamin, just five months old, was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. After months of treatment, he was allowed home for a brief period before needing to return to CHU Sainte-Justine in Montreal. The Hospital Transportation Program facilitated a one-hour flight for Benjamin and his family, saving them from a grueling seven-hour car journey. Today, Benjamin is thriving and enjoying life after a bone marrow transplant.
The annual Points Matching Week is the largest fundraising event for the Hospital Transportation Program. The program works with Air Canada and its partners to provide flights for children and a parent or guardian, connecting them to the care they need. Since its inception in 2003, the program has assisted over 200 children and their families, providing more than 300 flights.
