Netflix Renews ‘The Night Agent’ for Season 3 Ahead of Season 2 Premiere

In a surprise move, Netflix has greenlit a third season of its hit series ‘The Night Agent’ before the second season even premieres. The early renewal comes hot on the heels of the announcement that season two will debut sometime in early 2025. Production for the highly anticipated third season is scheduled to kick off later this year, with filming taking place in Istanbul, followed by New York in 2025.

Show creator Shawn Ryan, known for his work on ‘The Shield’ and ‘S.W.A.T.’, expressed his excitement about the renewal, stating, “We’re so excited that our fans will get to watch season 2 of The Night Agent in early 2025, and we’ve been hard at work writing season 3 to deliver more breathless Peter Sutherland Night Action adventures to our rabid audience.”

‘The Night Agent’ follows the story of Peter Sutherland, played by Gabriel Basso, an FBI agent working as a Night Action telephone operator at the White House. When he receives a mysterious call, Sutherland is thrust into a conspiracy to uncover a traitor within the US government. The first season ended with Peter transitioning into a Night Agent spy and embarking on his first mission, leaving on a private jet.

Season two will delve into Peter’s experiences as a spy and the perilous mission he undertakes overseas. Basso will reprise his role alongside Luciane Buchanan as Rose Larkin, a former tech CEO and Peter’s love interest. The second season will also introduce a number of new cast members, including Amanda Warren, Berto Colon, Louis Herthum, Arienne Mandi, Michael Malarkey, Keon Alexander, Brittany Snow, Teddy Sears, Elise Kibler, and Dikran Tulaine.

Based on Matthew Quirk’s novel, ‘The Night Agent’ was adapted for television by Shawn Ryan. The series premiered in March 2023 and quickly became one of Netflix’s most popular TV shows, solidifying its place as a fan favorite. ‘The Night Agent’ season one currently holds the seventh spot on Netflix’s list of most popular English-language shows, a testament to its captivating storyline and strong cast performances.
