California Joins States Banning Smartphones in Schools: A Growing Trend to Combat Distraction and Promote Well-being

California has become the latest state to join a growing trend of restricting smartphone usage in schools. Last month, Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law AB 272, which requires students to stow away their cellphones during class time. The goal? To improve students’ mental health and academic performance by minimizing distractions and promoting a more focused learning environment.
