The Day of the Jackal: Eddie Redmayne Hunts a Chameleon Assassin in New Series

Prepare yourself for a high-stakes chase across Europe in “The Day of the Jackal,” an upcoming series based on Frederick Forsyth’s iconic 1971 novel. Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne takes on the role of Jackal, a master assassin who offers his deadly services to the highest bidder. Known for his chameleon-like ability to blend in, Jackal has become a phantom, evading capture and remaining shrouded in mystery.

Enter Bianca, a dedicated British intelligence officer played by Lashana Lynch. Driven by a relentless pursuit of justice, Bianca embarks on a dangerous mission to track down the elusive Jackal. The series promises a thrilling cat-and-mouse game as both Jackal and Bianca engage in a deadly dance across the continent.

“I will find him, and I will kill him myself,” Bianca states with unwavering determination as she sets out on her perilous quest.

Joining Redmayne and Lynch in this stellar cast is a powerhouse ensemble including Úrsula Corberó, Charles Dance, Richard Dormer, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, Eleanor Matsuura, Jonjo O’Neill, Nick Blood, Sule Rimi, and Florisa Kamara.

This modern reimagining of Forsyth’s novel is brought to life by screenwriter Ronan Bennett (known for his work on “Top Boy”) who serves as the showrunner. Brian Kirk (director of “21 Bridges”) helms the series.

The 1973 film adaptation of “The Day of the Jackal,” directed by Fred Zinnemann and starring Edward Fox, was a critical success, earning a BAFTA award for its masterful film editing.

“The Day of the Jackal” premieres on November 14, 2024, on Peacock, with the first five episodes dropping at once. New episodes will then be released weekly, leading up to a double-episode finale on December 12, 2024. UK viewers can catch the series on Sky starting on November 7, 2024.

Get ready for a gripping journey into a world of shadows and secrets, where the only thing more dangerous than the chase is the prey itself.
