Man Arrested for Alleged Sexual Harassment on IndiGo Flight

A man from Rajasthan was arrested in Chennai after a woman accused him of sexual harassment on a Delhi-Chennai IndiGo flight. The incident occurred on a recent flight, where the woman, seated in a window seat, alleged that the 43-year-old man, also in a window seat behind her, inappropriately touched her while she was asleep.

The woman immediately reported the incident after the flight landed at 4:30 pm, registering a complaint against the accused. Authorities responded swiftly, registering a case under Section 75 (sexual harassment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The suspect, identified as Rajesh Sharma, was subsequently arrested.

According to an officer at the All Women’s Police Station at the Chennai airport, the woman reported that she felt the man’s touch while she was asleep in her seat. Mr. Sharma, although originally from Rajasthan, had been living in Chennai for several years. Airport staff revealed that the accused was seated in seat 3A at the time of the alleged harassment.
