The reason for her detainment? Possessing CBD, which is legal in the United States but not in the island nation.
Sennott recounted the experience with a mix of amusement and embarrassment, admitting that she hadn’t researched international travel laws before arriving at the Cayman Islands airport. The incident, she joked, was “totally [her] fault” and a bit “pathetic” compared to being arrested for something “awesome” like protesting or shoplifting.
The actress described the awkward situation of having her phone and passport confiscated and being allowed only one phone call, but only to someone within the Cayman Islands. “Unfortunately, I have yet to make friends in the Cayman Islands,” she quipped.
Adding to the absurdity of the situation, Sennott revealed that the border patrol officers searched for her online presence and even watched clips from ‘Bottoms.’ Their verdict? “This isn’t for us.”
The actress’s time behind bars was thankfully short-lived. Her assistant, Claire, realizing something was amiss when Sennott stopped responding to text messages, alerted the authorities. Sennott, however, wasn’t able to share a physical mugshot, as she requested it, but the officers refused to provide it.
