In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) police have successfully busted an interstate drug trafficking ring in Anantnag district, leading to the arrest of three individuals. The operation, conducted on Saturday, resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of Codeine Phosphate, a controlled substance.
The apprehended individuals were identified as Monty Singh, a resident of Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh, along with Ashish Bardawaj and Rahul, both hailing from Chhatarpur in New Delhi. The police investigation revealed that the consignment of 413 bottles of Codeine Phosphate, branded as Codril-T, was cleverly concealed within the door panels of a car. This meticulously planned operation aimed to distribute the drugs in Sopore and Srinagar, key locations in the Kashmir Valley.
The vehicle carrying the illicit consignment was intercepted at Doonipora Sangam, a strategic location along the Delhi-Srinagar route. The police had established multiple checkpoints based on credible intelligence regarding the movement of narcotics.
Further investigations led to multiple raids, culminating in the detention of a local smuggler from Sopore for questioning. The J&K police collaborated with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in New Delhi, resulting in a raid at a warehouse in Noida’s Sector 135. This operation yielded a substantial quantity of Codeine, further unraveling the intricate network of the drug trafficking ring.
The police investigation identified Sachin Rana and Arun Rana, both residents of Faridabad, as key figures behind the operation. Intensive efforts are currently underway to apprehend these individuals.
