The comedic journey of ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ took a downturn on Monday (October 14) as the film’s box office earnings suffered a significant drop. According to data from film industry tracker Sacnilk, the movie’s net box office collections in India plummeted by 63.59 per cent compared to its weekend earnings. The Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri starrer, which had garnered ₹ 6.31 crore on Sunday (October 13), managed to pull in only an estimated ₹ 2.33 crore on its fourth day.
This trend of tepid collections has been evident since the movie’s release. While the film managed to earn ₹ 6.9 crore on the Dussehra holiday (October 12 / Saturday), its overall earnings since its release have reached ₹ 21.05 crore.
The movie’s performance in theaters reflects this trend. ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ registered a 10.96 per cent occupancy for its Hindi language 2D screenings on Monday, with morning shows filling 7.49 per cent of seats. The afternoon screenings sold 12.61 per cent of tickets, followed by evening shows at 10.48 per cent and night shows with a 13.26 per cent audience.
The film, a T-Series, Balaji Telefilms, and Thinkink Picturez production, is directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa. Apart from the lead actors, the Vasan Bala-helmed film’s star cast boasts Mallika Sherawat, Vijay Raaz, Tiku Talsania, and Archana Puran Singh in key roles. The movie, reportedly budgeted between ₹ 20-30 crore, tells a hilarious tale of Vicky (Rajkummar) and Vidya (Triptii) as they navigate the scenic town of Rishikesh in search of their missing “suhagraat CD.”
