Emirates Revamps Global Commercial Team for Strategic Growth

In a move aimed at accelerating strategic growth and expansion, Emirates is undergoing a significant reorganization of its global commercial team. This strategic restructuring underscores the airline’s commitment to fostering strong relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders, while simultaneously driving revenue and solidifying its position within its extensive network of 138 destinations across 80 countries.

Effective November 1st, the airline’s commercial operations leaders will assume new responsibilities under the newly structured program. Leading this dynamic team is Nabil Sultan, Emirates’ Executive Vice President of Passenger Sales and Country Management. Notably, the new structure features three UAE Nationals occupying key leadership positions within the top six roles, signifying the airline’s dedication to promoting local talent and expertise.

Thierry Aucoc, currently the Senior Vice President (SVP) for Commercial Operations in Europe and the Russian Federation, will be transitioning to SVP of Commercial Operations (West), overseeing both Europe and the Americas. Adil Al Ghaith, currently SVP for Commercial Operations in the Gulf, Middle East, and Central Asia, will now lead the Gulf, Middle East, and Africa regions as SVP of Commercial Operations (Centre). Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, previously Divisional VP for the USA & Canada, will take on the role of SVP of Commercial Operations (West Asia & Indian Ocean).

In another key appointment, Matthew Jones, currently the Regional Sales Manager for the USA, will be promoted to VP of the USA, reporting directly to Thierry Aucoc. The remaining regional leaders, Orhan Abbas, SVP of Commercial Operations for the Far East, and Barry Brown, DVP for Australasia, will maintain their current leadership positions within their respective regions.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the critical role of the commercial operations teams in driving the airline’s success. “Our Commercial Operations teams have a crucial role to play not only at our Dubai hub, but across the expanse of our growing network,” he stated. “As our ambassadors, they have deep knowledge of local market dynamics and a sharp understanding of our customers with a view to delighting them and our other key stakeholders every single day. By strengthening our global portfolios with these executive appointments, our aim is to be future fit, elevate customer satisfaction, refuel our business, and reenergize our markets. I wish our commercial leaders every success in their new or expanded roles.”

This strategic restructuring comes on the heels of recent appointments and promotions within Emirates, particularly within the Middle East and Africa. The Emirates Group announced significant promotions and senior appointments in both February and July of this year. These included the advancement of 7 UAE nationals and 6 women in July, and 19 executives, including 8 UAE nationals, in February. This ongoing commitment to talent development reflects Emirates’ dedication to building a diverse and inclusive workforce while supporting the growth and success of its employees.
