Bollywood actor Salman Khan has resumed filming for the highly anticipated reality show, Bigg Boss 18, but not without a heavy dose of security surrounding him. Following recent death threats from the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the actor’s safety has been prioritized with stringent measures in place.
Khan returned to the set on Thursday night accompanied by a robust security detail, as reported by Times of India. He is currently residing in a secured chalet within the production compound, ensuring filming continues as scheduled. The increased security measures include round-the-clock surveillance with over 60 security personnel deployed throughout the area. Additionally, a strict access control policy has been implemented, requiring all individuals entering the premises to undergo Aadhar card verification.
The heightened security measures are a direct response to the threats Salman has received. The Bishnoi gang is suspected to be behind the murder of Baba Siddique, Salman’s close friend and former Maharashtra minister, and a chilling message reportedly sent by a gang member to Mumbai Traffic Police demanding a ₹5 crore ransom from the actor.
In response to these threats, authorities have upgraded Salman Khan’s security to Y-plus status, providing him with an armed police escort at all times. The gang’s alleged motive for the murder of Baba Siddique stems from his close relationship with Salman and his position as a leader within the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Salman Khan was previously filming Bigg Boss 18 when he learned of Baba Siddique’s murder last Saturday. He immediately halted filming and rushed to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai to visit the former Maharashtra minister.
Prior to these recent events, Salman Khan had already been targeted by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. In April, members of the gang fired shots outside his Bandra home. In a related development, the Navi Mumbai police uncovered a plot by the Bishnoi gang to assassinate Salman in June. They apprehended one of the alleged shooters, Sukhbir Singh, in Panipat, Haryana.
The ongoing threats against Salman Khan highlight the serious security concerns faced by celebrities in India. The heightened security measures surrounding him serve as a reminder of the vulnerability of public figures and the need for stringent security protocols to ensure their safety.
