Vantage Aviation Acquires Dominion Aviation, Expanding its Footprint in the US Aviation Market

In a strategic move that signifies its ambitious growth plans, Vantage Aviation has acquired Dominion Aviation, a well-established full-service operator at Richmond Executive – Chesterfield County Airport (FCI). This acquisition marks a pivotal moment for Vantage, solidifying its position as a prominent player in the US aviation market.

Dominion Aviation has been a leading provider of comprehensive aviation services for over four decades, offering a range of solutions to its diverse clientele. From traditional FBO offerings like ground handling, fueling, and hangar storage to specialized services such as Aircraft Management, Charter Services, MRO (with a 145 Repair Station), and Flight Training/Aircraft Rental, Dominion has established a reputation for excellence and customer satisfaction.

The company currently manages a fleet of 14 aircraft, operating under both Part 91 and Part 135 regulations, and boasts over 51,000 square feet of hangar facilities at FCI. This strategic acquisition strengthens Vantage’s portfolio by adding a seasoned operator with a loyal customer base and a proven track record of success.

Vantage Aviation, founded in spring 2024 by CEO Ryan Maxfield, has been aggressively expanding its network through acquisitions and strategic partnerships. The company focuses on acquiring FBOs that offer a diverse suite of services, including charter, maintenance, and flight training. Maxfield explains the rationale behind choosing Dominion Aviation as their first acquisition: “Dominion Aviation embodies the strategy, culture, and core principles of Vantage. We were deliberate in our selection for our first acquisition, seeking a company that aligns with our values. Dominion Aviation recognizes the value of providing a one-stop-shop for its customers, offering all the essential services for aircraft ownership. Their people-centric culture, prioritizing safety and service, made them the perfect fit for our expanding network. The Chesterfield County Administration and the Airport Manager also understand the economic impact and vital role this airport plays in the community. Their support for Dominion Aviation and the services they provide is invaluable.”

Mike Mickel, founder and CEO of Dominion Aviation, shares Maxfield’s enthusiasm about the cultural synergy between the two companies: “This was a deliberate and thorough process. I’ve known Ryan for years, and I’m familiar with his achievements. However, it was crucial for me to ensure that my employees and customers, who are like family to me, were left in the right hands. Throughout the process, it became increasingly clear that I had chosen the perfect partner to take Dominion Aviation to the next level. I’m excited to continue working alongside Ryan and his team. The future looks bright for both companies.”

Dominion Aviation, founded in 1983 by Mike Mickel, has a long history of providing exceptional aviation services. Mickel will continue to play a key role in the company, focusing on Aircraft Management services. This acquisition not only expands Vantage Aviation’s reach but also strengthens their position as a leading provider of integrated aviation solutions.
