The newly released trailer for the upcoming animated series gives us our first real taste of what to expect.
Created by James Gunn, the man behind ‘The Suicide Squad’ and ‘Peacemaker’, Creature Commandos promises to bridge the gap between those two popular projects and pave the way for the future of the DCU. Robot (Sean Gunn), the mischievous Weasel (also Sean Gunn), and the volatile Doctor Phosphorus (Alan Tudyk). We also get a glimpse of the show’s quirky humor and over-the-top action, with a generous dose of blood and gore for good measure.
But the real shocker comes at the 1:50 mark. It’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, but there he is: Clayface, the infamous Batman villain, engaging in a brutal fight with Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo). This unexpected appearance raises some intriguing questions: just how established is Batman and his rogues’ gallery in this new DCU? And what does it mean for the future of Gotham’s protector in the world of Creature Commandos?
We know that the series takes place after the events of ‘Peacemaker’ season 1 and will follow Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) as she assembles this ragtag team of non-humans to carry out her clandestine missions. With a commitment to Waller, the Creature Commandos are sure to encounter some major DC villains. But what are their missions? And what role will Clayface play in this twisted tale?
