Microsoft and OpenAI Join Forces to Empower Newsrooms with AI
In a groundbreaking initiative, Microsoft and OpenAI, in partnership with the Lenfest Institute for Journalism, have announced the launch of the AI Collaborative and Fellowship program. This ambitious program aims to support newsrooms across the United States in their adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
The program, which spans two years, will invest more than $10 million, split between direct funding and enterprise software credits. The goal is to empower news outlets to explore and implement AI solutions, ultimately enhancing their operations and storytelling capabilities.

The first five news organizations selected to participate in the program are:
