PolyU and Yunji Technology Join Forces to Revolutionize Hospitality with AI and Robotics

From October 11th to 13th, the prestigious “IMPACT2024” global hospitality sector event, hosted by PolyU’s School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM), brought together industry leaders, experts, and innovators to discuss the future of hospitality. A key highlight of the event was the signing ceremony for the newly established “PolyU-YUNJI Technology Hotel Digital Intelligence Joint Innovation Lab.”
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the fusion of academia and industry, bringing together the expertise of PolyU, renowned for its excellence in tourism and leisure management, and Yunji Technology, a leading provider of AI-driven robotic solutions. Yunji Technology, headquartered in Beijing, has already made a significant impact, extending its robotic solutions to over 30,000 hotels, hospitals, and commercial buildings worldwide.
The new joint lab aims to leverage the strengths of both partners to develop cutting-edge research and applications in AI, robotics, and embodied intelligence. The focus will be on creating innovative solutions that have a global impact on the hospitality industry.
Professor Wong Kwok-yin, Vice President (EDU) of PolyU, highlighted the transformative potential of this partnership, stating that it will invigorate research, education, and development in the field, unlocking new opportunities for scientific advancement in hospitality management and beyond.
Zhi Tao, Founder and CEO of Yunji Technology, emphasized the transformative power of AI and robotics in the hospitality sector. “AI and robotics are now widely applied in hotels, transforming them into ‘smart entities’ that have served over one billion people,” he stated. “This collaboration will not only promote research and application but also accelerate Hong Kong’s development as a ‘technology hub’ alongside its reputation as a ‘financial center.’”
