## Nipsey Hussle’s Visionary Take on Cryptocurrencies: From ‘Karma’ to Investment Pioneer

Grammy-winning rapper Ermias Joseph Asghedom, better known by his stage name Nipsey Hussle, was a visionary who saw the potential of cryptocurrencies long before they became a mainstream investment option. In a world dominated by traditional banking, Hussle recognized the revolutionary power of decentralized digital assets, calling them a form of “Karma.”

During a 2018 interview with Hard Knock TV’s Nick Huff Barili, Hussle articulated his views on cryptocurrencies, highlighting their potential to act as an “equalizer” against the perceived shortcomings of traditional banking systems. He saw them as a creation of techies and software developers, seeking to level the playing field and empower individuals. “It’s just like the energy balancing out what went wrong over there [traditional banking] and just the disadvantage that the people were at,” the rapper said.

Hussle was particularly fascinated by the ability of cryptocurrencies to facilitate seamless international money transfers without the need for intermediaries and hefty fees. “That’s a big innovation if you understand like banking and PayPal and all other type of s**t.” He envisioned a future where cryptocurrencies would become a viable alternative, creating a more equitable and accessible financial landscape.

Hussle’s vision was rooted in his own experience. Back in 2013, he started investing in Bitcoin, inspired by the advice of fashion designer and entrepreneur Marc Ecko. As he delved deeper into the world of cryptocurrencies, he became increasingly engaged, acquiring a stake in Amsterdam-based Follow Coin, a platform dedicated to providing real-time cryptocurrency investment information.

Hussle’s early adoption and insightful understanding of the technology’s potential cemented his status as a pioneer in the cryptocurrency space. He saw beyond the hype and recognized the transformative power of decentralized finance, even before it became widely embraced by mainstream investors. His legacy extends beyond the music industry, reminding us of the importance of staying ahead of the curve and embracing new technologies that have the power to revolutionize the world.

Sadly, Hussle’s life was tragically cut short in March 2019. He was shot and killed in the parking lot of his store, Marathon Clothing, in South Los Angeles. Despite his untimely passing, his impact on the music industry and his visionary approach to cryptocurrencies continue to inspire generations. In 2020, he received two posthumous Grammy Awards, solidifying his place as a legend in hip hop and a pioneer in the world of decentralized finance.
