Kyrgyzstan is making its mark on the Asian tourism scene, leveraging the prestigious ITB Asia 2024 exhibition in Singapore to engage with potential travelers. The event has become a vital platform for showcasing Central Asian tourism, and Kyrgyzstan is seizing the opportunity to highlight its unique appeal.
The country’s presence at the exhibition reflects a significant surge in interest from Asian markets, particularly Singapore. The Kyrgyzstan Tourism Development Fund reports a remarkable 1.5-fold increase in tourists from Singapore over the past year, demonstrating the growing allure of Central Asian destinations.
This year, ten Kyrgyz tour operators are participating in ITB Asia, a significant jump from the four who attended in 2022. This doubling of participation underscores the nation’s commitment to expanding its footprint in the Asian market and attracting more visitors to experience its stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.
Visitors to the Kyrgyz booth were treated to a captivating musical performance by Chynar Chomoeva, who skillfully played traditional melodies on the violin. Her rendition of “Besh Yrgay” and “Kara Zhorgo” mesmerized the audience, showcasing the depth of Kyrgyz cultural tradition and leaving a lasting impression on attendees.
Beyond the captivating performances, ITB Asia 2024 also witnessed a crucial meeting between key figures in the tourism industry. Oliver Chong, Executive Director of the Singapore Tourism Board, Maksat Usubaliev, Director of the Tourism Department of Kyrgyzstan, Saltanat Midin, President of the Kyrgyz Association of Tour Operators (KATO), and representatives of the Tourism Development Fund came together to discuss strengthening tourism ties between Kyrgyzstan and Singapore. This collaboration seeks to explore new avenues for cooperation and further boost tourism between the two countries.
