Jaipur Airport’s Terminal 1 Reopens, Ushering in a New Era of International Travel

Get ready for a new era of international travel from Jaipur! The city’s iconic airport is set to witness a grand reopening of its Terminal 1 on October 27th, marking a significant milestone in enhancing the airport’s capacity and passenger experience.

The inauguration ceremony will be led by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on October 26th, with the terminal becoming fully operational the following day. Designed with a distinct aesthetic heritage touch, Terminal 1 will exclusively cater to international flights. This move will not only enhance the airport’s capacity but also provide passengers with a streamlined and improved experience.

With the reopening of Terminal 1, Jaipur Airport will now operate with two terminals, each dedicated to specific types of flights. Terminal 2, previously handling both domestic and international traffic, will now exclusively cater to domestic flights. This strategic restructuring aims to optimize passenger flow and create a more efficient and enjoyable travel experience.

The revamped Terminal 1 boasts an impressive capacity to accommodate 15 lakh passengers annually. It features a spacious departure area equipped with around 10 immigration counters and an arrival area with 14 counters, ensuring smooth and efficient passenger processing. A robust security presence, including approximately 100 personnel from the CISF and airport security, will be deployed to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers.

The upgraded terminal is also equipped with a range of modern amenities designed to enhance passenger comfort. These include a dedicated medical room for emergencies, a 24-hour ambulance service for immediate medical assistance, and comfortable passenger lounges for relaxation and refreshments.

The opening of Terminal 1 is expected to be a major boost for tourism in Rajasthan. With the introduction of new international routes to destinations like Abu Dhabi and Kuala Lumpur, the state is set to attract an influx of international visitors eager to explore its rich culture, vibrant heritage, and breathtaking landscapes.

Located in the southern suburb of Sanganer, Jaipur Airport is currently the 13th busiest airport in India, according to the Airports Authority of India. The inaugural flight at Terminal 1 on October 27th will be an Etihad Airways flight from Abu Dhabi, scheduled to land at 2:10 am. This event marks the culmination of extensive renovation work on Terminal 1, which began in December 2017. With the completion of this project, Jaipur Airport is poised to become a major gateway for international travelers to the state of Rajasthan and beyond.
