Kanpur Gym Trainer Confesses to Killing Woman, Burying Body Near District Magistrate’s Bungalow

A chilling discovery has sent shockwaves through Kanpur, as a gym trainer confessed to murdering a woman and burying her body near the District Magistrate’s bungalow. The victim, who had been reported missing on June 24th, was identified as the wife of a businessman.

The accused, Vimal Soni, a resident of Kanpur’s Raipurwa locality and a gym trainer from the Green Park area, admitted to the heinous crime during police questioning. According to authorities, Soni led the police to the burial site after they dug up the area designated for government officials’ bungalows.

The motive behind the murder, as revealed by the investigation, was a heated argument between Soni and the victim. The woman, who had been missing for four months, had allegedly returned to the gym after a 20-day absence. Soni claimed that the woman was upset about the finalization of his wedding. During their conversation in his car, an argument erupted, leading to Soni punching her in the neck. The woman fainted and subsequently passed away, according to Soni’s confession.

DCP (North Kanpur) Shravan Kumar Singh stated that tracking down Soni was a challenging task due to his lack of mobile phone usage. Investigation teams were deployed to various locations, including Pune, Agra, and Punjab, in pursuit of the suspect.

The authorities are currently investigating whether Soni had stolen the woman’s jewelry. The case, registered at the Kotwali district police station, is under active investigation, with legal action being pursued against the accused.

This shocking incident highlights the vulnerability of women in society and raises concerns about the effectiveness of law enforcement in preventing such crimes. The ongoing investigation is expected to shed light on the details of the crime and the circumstances that led to the woman’s tragic demise.
