Amidst the ongoing tension between Prince Harry and the Royal Family, Princess Eugenie, a close confidante of the Duke of Sussex, might play a crucial role in mending the fractured relationship. Despite Harry’s relocation to the United States with his wife, Meghan Markle, his bond with Eugenie has remained strong.
Jennie Bond, a former BBC royal correspondent, believes that Eugenie could serve as a bridge between Harry and the rest of the family, allowing for communication and understanding to flourish. “Eugenie undoubtedly does have something of a challenge on her hands to maintain good relationships with both Harry and Meghan – and the rest of the Royal Family. But I think the King is probably happy that Harry still has at least one royal cousin he clearly trusts, and presumably wants to see more of,” Bond shared with OK!.
Bond highlights that Eugenie’s unique position could enable King Charles to discreetly inquire about Harry’s well-being, while also allowing Harry to stay informed about the Royal Family’s sentiments. While a formal reconciliation seems unlikely at this time, Bond believes that any future mending of ties would need a starting point, and Eugenie could be that catalyst. “Any reconciliation – which at this stage still seems unlikely – has to start somewhere and with someone. And that person could possibly be Eugenie… but don’t hold your breath,” she added.
Adding another layer to the potential for reconciliation, recent reports reveal that Harry and Meghan have purchased a property in Portugal, located near Eugenie’s residence with her husband, Jack Brooksbank. This proximity is expected to facilitate frequent family interactions, particularly between their young children. Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will have the opportunity to bond with Eugenie’s sons, August and Ernest Brooksbank, strengthening the ties between the cousins and indirectly fostering a closer connection between Harry and the Royal Family.
While the path to reconciliation might be long and winding, Princess Eugenie’s presence as a trusted ally and her unique position could provide a glimmer of hope for a future where Harry finds his place within the Royal Family once more.
