In a shocking escalation of the ongoing feud with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, the Kshatriya Karni Sena has announced a ₹1.11 crore bounty for his death, this time expanding the offer to include any fellow prisoner in Sabarmati Jail who can eliminate him. This comes just a week after the group offered the same reward to any police officer who could kill Bishnoi in an ‘encounter’.
Kshatriya Karni Sena chief Raj Shekhawat announced the new offer in a video, defending his group from criticism by a news channel. Shekhawat, in a Hindi message posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stated, “The reward of ₹ 1,11,11,111 that I announced will be given to the policeman who encounters Lawrence Bishnoi. Additionally, if any prisoner, or warrior, lodged in Sabarmati jail kills Lawrence Bishnoi, the same reward will be given to him by the Kshatriya Karni Sena.”
The Karni Sena’s actions stem from the murder of their former chief, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, on December 5, 2023, in Jaipur. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the killing, leading to this escalating feud. Shekhawat has previously justified the reward, stating it is for the “safety and security” of any security personnel involved in an encounter against Bishnoi and blaming the central and Gujarat governments for Bishnoi’s “menace.”
While Bishnoi is currently in jail for a cross-border smuggling case, he remains a figure of high interest due to his alleged involvement in several high-profile cases. These include the alleged plot to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan and the firing incident outside his house in April 2024, as well as speculation linking him to the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique. The Karni Sena’s latest move further intensifies the conflict and raises significant questions about the safety and security of prisoners, especially in the context of high-profile figures like Bishnoi. It remains to be seen how the authorities will respond to this blatant offer of a bounty, with the potential for dangerous repercussions within the prison system.
