## Warm Up Your Winter with Jamie Oliver’s Easy Goulash Recipe
Forget the takeout menus and embrace the comforting flavors of homemade goulash this winter! Originating in Hungary, goulash is a hearty stew that warms you from the inside out. And thanks to Jamie Oliver’s simple and affordable recipe, making this traditional dish is easier than you think.
Goulash typically features a blend of meat (often beef or pork), vegetables, and spices. The star of the show is paprika, which lends its signature crimson color and bold flavor to the dish. There are countless regional variations, from the classic Hungarian goulash, a thick and hearty stew, to the American version, often featuring pasta and resembling a casserole.
Jamie Oliver’s recipe uses lean pork and a handful of vegetables to create a satisfyingly flavorful goulash. He adds a touch of paprika for that iconic color and, for extra depth of flavor, you can also include bouillon powder. The best part? This delicious stew cooks up in just 55 minutes, making it perfect for a weeknight meal.
Jamie Oliver’s Goulash Recipe
Ingredients:
* One small onion, peeled and finely diced
* One green or red pepper, deseeded and sliced
* One large potato (400g), washed and cubed
* 350g higher-welfare lean pork, such as tenderloin or fillet, cut into small chunks
* 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
* Two 400g tins of chopped tomatoes
* One 400g tin of cannellini beans, drained
* Optional: One tablespoon paprika
* Optional: One teaspoon bouillon powder
* One sprig of fresh flat-leaf parsley, chopped
Instructions:
1. Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the diced onion and pork, cooking for about five minutes until the meat is browned and the onions are softened.
2. Add the sliced pepper and cubed potato, frying for an additional one to two minutes.
3. Pour in the chopped tomatoes and stir in the drained cannellini beans. If desired, add the paprika and bouillon powder at this stage. (Note: If preparing for a baby, omit the paprika and bouillon powder until after serving, then chop or mash the food for a smoother consistency.)
4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 35 to 40 minutes, until everything is cooked through.
5. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Serve your homemade goulash with warm bread, noodles, or dumplings for a hearty and satisfying meal that will warm you up on a chilly night. Enjoy!
