The boy, identified as Aditya Sharma, a ninth-grade student, was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi where doctors faced the harrowing task of extracting an assortment of foreign objects, including batteries, chains, razor blade fragments, and screws.
According to reports, Aditya’s ordeal began on October 13 when he started experiencing shortness of breath and discomfort. His parents took him to a hospital in Agra, initiating a month-long journey across multiple medical facilities in search of a cure. They sought treatment in Jaipur, Aligarh, Noida, and ultimately Delhi, but despite their efforts, Aditya’s condition worsened.
The family’s journey became increasingly desperate as doctors discovered more and more objects lodged within Aditya’s stomach. In Agra, a CT scan revealed a ‘nasal blockage’, which was removed, but Aditya continued to suffer from abdominal pain. Subsequent ultrasound tests in Aligarh uncovered 19 objects in his stomach, leading to an urgent referral to a private hospital in Noida, where doctors found a total of 42 objects. Finally, at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, scans confirmed the presence of a shocking 65 objects.
The surgery, which lasted from 11 am to 4 pm, was a complex and delicate procedure, requiring doctors to painstakingly remove each object one by one. While initial scans suggested that Aditya’s stomach was clear after the surgery, he continued to experience abdominal pain, and three more objects were removed. Tragically, Aditya succumbed to an intestinal infection the following day.
