Zero Motorcycles is making a bold move into the more affordable electric motorcycle market with its new X-Line, featuring two lightweight off-road models: the XE and XB. These bikes are set to shake up the electric off-road scene, offering an accessible and exciting entry point for riders of all levels.
Zero Motorcycles has traditionally focused on high-end electric motorcycles, with models costing over $12,000. However, the company’s new “All Access” strategy aims to bring electric off-road riding to a wider audience. Over the next two years, Zero plans to release six new models under the $10,000 mark, all part of the X-Line.

Both the XE and XB sport a motocross-inspired design, featuring narrow knobby tires, flat saddles, relatively flat handlebars, and ample ground clearance. While they are initially launching as off-road only models in the US, they will be street-legal in Europe. Zero claims a top speed of 53 mph and a range of 65 miles at 31 mph, though actual range will vary based on riding conditions and style. Charging takes approximately 5.5 hours.
Weighing in at 223 pounds, the XE features a 35.4-inch seat height and is equipped with 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels. The suspension system boasts 215mm of travel in the front and 248mm in the rear, both fully adjustable. Stopping power comes from dual-piston DOT hydraulic brakes with a 240mm front rotor and a 220mm rear rotor. The Zero XE is priced at $6,495, making it an incredibly competitive option in the off-road market.
Zero XB: Beginner’s Bliss
The smaller and less powerful Zero XB is the perfect entry point for new off-road riders. It’s positioned as a serious contender in the e-bike market, with a top speed of 28 mph and an estimated range of 47 miles. Its 2.4kWh battery powers a 7.5kW motor that produces 10 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. Recharging the battery takes around three hours.
The XB, weighing in at 139 pounds, has a 32.7-inch seat height and 18-inch wheels front and rear. Single-piston hydraulic disk brakes with a 220mm front rotor and a 203mm rear rotor provide reliable stopping power. The front fork suspension offers 195mm of travel, while the rear monoshock provides 176mm of travel, both fully adjustable. The Zero XB starts at an incredibly affordable price of $4,195, making it one of the most attractive options for riders looking to enter the world of electric off-road riding.
