Tesla’s highly anticipated Cybertruck is officially making its way into Canada. The electric vehicle manufacturer announced that it has begun delivering the futuristic, stainless-steel truck to customers in the Great White North, marking its expansion to a third country after the US and Mexico.
The news came via Tesla’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, accompanied by a playful reference to Canadian coffeehouse chain Tim Hortons, suggesting that the Cybertruck has officially embraced the Canadian culture.
The Canadian launch of the Cybertruck comes after a period of anticipation and follows months of preparation. In September, Tesla’s Cybertruck Program Manager, Siddhant Awasthi, revealed that the company was aiming for a late October launch in Canada.
The Cybertruck’s arrival in Canada is significant for several reasons. Firstly, it signifies Tesla’s strategic move to expand its global reach and tap into new markets. Secondly, the Cybertruck’s introduction to Canada underscores the growing popularity and acceptance of electric vehicles in the country.
For Canadian customers, the Cybertruck offers two variants: the all-wheel drive foundation series starting at C$137,990 ($101,505) and the more premium Cyberbeast variant priced at C$165,990 ($122,101). Notably, the foundation series is a limited-edition version, featuring laser-etched badges and premium accessories.
Tesla first launched the Cybertruck to customers in the US in November 2022, followed by deliveries to Mexico in late September 2023. The company had showcased the Cybertruck at the Canadian Auto Show in Toronto back in February, hinting at its imminent arrival in the country. At the time, Tesla executives confirmed the Cybertruck’s planned sale in Canada, citing growing interest in the vehicle. The launch signifies Tesla’s successful navigation of regulatory hurdles and its commitment to expanding into new markets.
The Cybertruck’s arrival in Canada adds another chapter to the ongoing narrative of electric vehicle adoption and highlights Tesla’s commitment to global expansion. With its unique design and futuristic appeal, the Cybertruck is poised to make a significant impact in the Canadian market, attracting customers seeking a blend of style, sustainability, and performance.
