The law and order situation in West Bengal has come under intense scrutiny as BJP leaders raise serious allegations against the state government. On Monday, BJP leader Dilip Ghosh claimed that criminals from neighboring states, particularly Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, have infiltrated West Bengal, setting up factories and engaging in illegal activities, including bomb-making. He alleged that the state government is complicit with these anti-social elements, contributing to the rise in crime. Ghosh, echoing concerns raised by many, asserted that the state’s lax approach towards security is allowing criminals to flourish. He claimed that the influx of infiltrators and terrorists from Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bihar is further exacerbating the situation. “In every district of Bengal, incidents are being reported. There is no law and order here, the state government is friends with anti-social people,” Ghosh stated. He warned that until the current state government is replaced, such incidents will continue to rise. Ghosh’s statements come on the heels of similar concerns expressed by West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose. Bose, in a recent statement, expressed his deep disappointment with the state’s deteriorating law and order situation and the alarming rise in crimes against women. “It is a sad fact of contemporary Bengal that atrocities are heaped upon women. This is something that the entire society has to resist forcefully and effectively, and we will do it,” the Governor stated. The BJP, through its leaders, is making a concerted effort to highlight the law and order breakdown in West Bengal, putting pressure on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government. Earlier, BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari visited the parents of victims in the RG Kar rape and murder case, expressing his support and solidarity with the grieving family. “The whole of the BJP and I am with this family. Our minister of state visited them twice. I also met them during the Durga Puja. Our fight is ongoing for justice. We will continue the fight for it. The family demands justice, to punish the culprit and those who destroyed the evidence. They also want legal action against the state government which is equally responsible,” Adhikari said. These developments underline the political battleground that West Bengal has become, with the BJP capitalizing on public dissatisfaction with the state’s handling of crime and security. The ongoing debate over law and order in the state is sure to continue, with both the BJP and the TMC engaging in a fierce battle for political advantage. The rising crime rate, especially against women, has become a major point of contention, with the opposition demanding immediate and effective action from the state government.
