China-Africa Economic Cooperation Takes Center Stage at Joint Chamber Meeting in Jinhua
Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province, hosted a significant event on November 8, 2024, focusing on bolstering the economic and trade relationship between China and Africa. The 2024 Chinese council meeting of the China-Africa Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, alongside a promotion event on China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, drew together over 120 delegates. These representatives hailed from trade promotion organizations and a diverse range of industries, including infrastructure construction, communications, logistics, energy, chemicals, finance, trade, and overseas industrial park development.
The meeting served as a platform for sharing insights on the ‘ten partnership actions’ designed to jointly propel China and Africa towards modernization. Key figures from the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC), China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Zhejiang Provincial Committee, and the Jinhua municipal government delivered addresses. Representatives from prominent Chinese companies, including China National Chemical Engineering Group Corporation Ltd. and China Communications Construction Company Limited, also shared their perspectives.
The Chinese council of the China-Africa Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry took stock of its previous accomplishments and outlined its plans for future economic and trade collaborations with African nations. Notably, a representative from the Power Construction Corporation of China, a member of the council’s presidium, participated in the discussions.
Government officials from South Africa’s Buffalo City Metro Municipality and the city of Jinhua provided presentations highlighting their cities’ investment environments and key industries. Representatives from companies like Huajian Group, the New Development Bank, the Bank of China, and BGI Group engaged in discussions around the current landscape and future prospects of China-Africa cooperation, leveraging their respective fields and experiences.
The event further included industrial cooperation match-makings across five key sectors: agriculture, industrial parks, new energy, infrastructure, and finance. These match-makings aimed to facilitate partnerships and foster collaborative ventures between Chinese and African entities.
This pivotal event, hosted by the CCOIC, undertaken by the Jinhua municipal government, and implemented by the CCPIT Jinhua Committee, provided a valuable platform for deepening exchanges and fostering robust cooperation between China and Africa in the realm of commerce and industry. The meeting underscored the commitment of both sides to strengthening economic ties and driving mutual growth through shared development initiatives.
