Travelers seeking convenience and modern amenities near Edinburgh Airport will soon have a new option: Premier Inn. Whitbread PLC, the company behind the popular hotel chain, has announced plans to build a new 200-room hotel located just a ten-minute walk from the airport terminal.
This strategic location positions the hotel as a prime choice for both business and leisure travelers. Edinburgh Airport, Scotland’s busiest air travel hub, witnessed a surge in passenger numbers in 2023, reaching approximately 14.5 million, a nearly 30% increase compared to the previous year. The rising demand for convenient accommodation near the airport makes this new Premier Inn a timely addition.
The proposed five-story hotel is being developed in collaboration with Riverstone Hotels Ltd. Plans for the hotel are currently under evaluation, with a formal development application expected to be submitted to the City of Edinburgh Council early next year.
The hotel’s ground floor will showcase Premier Inn’s latest ‘The Social’ restaurant and social space, providing a welcoming hub for guests to dine, relax, and connect. The hotel will offer the brand’s signature modern room styles, including Premier Plus rooms, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Adding to the convenience for travelers, the hotel will feature 100 dedicated on-site parking spaces. Located on Eastfield Road, guests will have easy access to the hotel and nearby attractions.
Whitbread is committed to sustainability, and this commitment is reflected in the hotel’s design. The facility will operate entirely on renewable energy and is designed to meet a BREEAM ‘very good’ rating, demonstrating its commitment to environmentally friendly practices.
Public consultation sessions for the proposed Premier Inn are scheduled for November 19 and December 17, providing an opportunity for the community to learn more about the project and share their feedback.
