Kazakhstan has thrown open its doors to the global community of digital nomads, introducing the innovative ‘Neo Nomad’ visa. This new program allows remote professionals to live and work in the country for up to a year, offering a unique opportunity to experience Kazakhstan’s diverse landscapes and vibrant culture.
The ‘Neo Nomad’ visa is specifically designed to attract remote workers in fields such as software development, marketing, finance, consulting, design, and e-commerce. To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate a steady income of at least USD 3,000 (HKD 23,325), possess valid health insurance, and have a clean criminal record. This initiative not only caters to the growing community of digital nomads seeking new work-life experiences but also aims to generate economic growth for Kazakhstan.
The country anticipates that the ‘Neo Nomad’ visa could generate an annual revenue of approximately USD 7.3 million (HKD 567,579,69) if 500 individuals apply. This financial boost is expected to be achieved by attracting international talent, bolstering tourism, supporting local businesses, and increasing foreign revenue.
Inspired by similar programs in over 50 countries, including Taiwan and Thailand, Kazakhstan is committed to creating a welcoming environment for the world’s estimated 35 million digital nomads. While the specific details of the ‘Neo Nomad’ visa are still being finalized, Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov has emphasized Kazakhstan’s dedication to attracting digital professionals and offering them a compelling opportunity to live and work in a culturally rich and diverse country. This initiative marks a significant step for Kazakhstan in embracing the evolving global landscape of work and travel, promising economic benefits and cultural exchange for both digital nomads and the country itself.
