Alexa Chung’s Madewell Collection Part Two: Corduroy Suits, Satin Western Shirts & More Must-Have Pieces

Get ready to refresh your wardrobe because Alexa Chung’s second Madewell collaboration is dropping tomorrow, November 14th! Following the success of the first drop, which saw pieces like the suede trench and blazer fly off the shelves, Chung is back with a new collection that’s full of timeless essentials and exciting new textures.

This time around, Chung is focusing on the versatility of fabrics like denim, corduroy, and satin, offering a range of pieces that seamlessly transition from fall to winter. While denim remains a key element, with Chung’s signature “Dream Jeans” and a selection of new washes, the real stars of the show are the corduroy and satin pieces.

Chung’s inspiration for the collection stems from a mix of vintage fashion icons and cinematic moments. Think Serge Gainsbourg, Harrison Ford, and Diana Ross, as well as films like *Kramer vs. Kramer* and *Midnight Cowboy*. “There’s a subtle nod to the rebellious spirit of the ’70s that inspired me,” Chung explains.

And it’s this rebellious spirit that shines through in the collection’s new additions, including a chic corduroy suit that serves as the perfect answer to the sold-out suede set from the first drop. “We were thinking about fabrics that live in the denim world, like the suede and the different rinse washes on the pre-existing denim, but also corduroy, as well, being this other fabric,” Chung says. “I personally love cord, because I think it literally goes with everything.”

The corduroy suit, which includes a long overcoat, double-breasted blazer, mini skirt, and trouser pants, is designed to be both practical and stylish. Chung envisions the overcoat paired with everything from a strappy, ’90s-style dress to baggy denim overalls, proving its versatility.

Adding a touch of shine to the mix is the new satin version of the western shirt, a piece that’s already generating buzz amongst Chung’s friends. “It’s kind of got a ‘50s, rodeo vibe to it—giving Brokeback babes,” she says. Inspired by the likes of Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, and Orville Peck, the satin shirt is designed to be both sexy and slinky. Chung even suggests wearing it as a festive holiday piece over the upcoming months.

As for the collection’s overall aesthetic, Chung emphasizes the importance of creating timeless pieces that you can wear year-round. “I think the appealing thing, I hope, is that it’s not a seasonal collection,” she explains. “Ideally, these jean washes can be worn in August or March. My ultimate goal is that you’re making an investment in something that hopefully is a classic.”

With a focus on quality fabrics, timeless silhouettes, and versatile styling options, Alexa Chung’s second Madewell collaboration is set to be a hit. So mark your calendars for November 14th and get ready to snag your own pieces before they’re gone.
