The escalating political climate in the United States has taken a dangerous turn, with several key figures in President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming administration facing a barrage of violent threats. Among them is Tom Homan, the designated border czar, who disclosed on Fox News’ “The Story” that he has received numerous death threats, a situation he now takes far more seriously than before.
Homan, a former ICE director, acknowledged a history of threats against himself and his family, stating, “I have not taken this seriously up to this point.” However, the recent wave of threats targeting numerous Trump nominees has forced a reevaluation. He explained that while he previously had security details and marshal protection, the gravity of the situation has shifted dramatically in light of the events of the past 24 hours. He highlighted the chilling reality of the threats, describing the constant fear and the need for ongoing security measures to protect himself and his loved ones.
Homan pointed to the role of negative media coverage in fueling the volatile atmosphere. “I’m not in the Cabinet, but I’ve read numerous hit pieces. I mean, you know, I’m a racist and, you know, I’m the father of family separation, all this other stuff. So the hate media doesn’t help at all because there are some nuts out there. They’ll take advantage. So that doesn’t help.” He argued that inflammatory rhetoric and biased reporting create an environment where threats of violence can escalate.
This alarming situation is not isolated to Homan. Fox News Digital first reported that nearly a dozen Trump nominees, including key figures like John Ratcliffe (CIA director nominee), Pete Hegseth (secretary of defense nominee), and Rep. Elise Stefanik (U.N. ambassador nominee), were targeted with violent threats, ranging from bomb threats to “swatting” incidents. Brooke Rollins (agriculture secretary nominee), Lee Zeldin (EPA administrator nominee), Lori Chavez-DeRemer (labor secretary nominee), and even the family of former attorney general nominee Matt Gaetz, were also among those targeted. The swift response from law enforcement underscores the severity of these threats and the immediate need to ensure the safety and security of these individuals.
Incoming White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the attacks, stating, “Last night and this morning, several of President Trump’s Cabinet nominees and administration appointees were targeted in violent, unAmerican threats to their lives and those who live with them. In response, law enforcement acted quickly to ensure the safety of those who were targeted. President Trump and the entire Transition team are grateful for their swift action.”
Despite the threats, Homan expressed unwavering resolve. “I’m not going to be intimidated by these people,” he declared. “I’m not going to let them silence me.” He emphasized the critical need for a strong and decisive response to identify and prosecute those responsible for these illegal acts, highlighting the seriousness of threatening someone’s life. The timing of these threats, coming just months after two assassination attempts against President Trump himself, adds an even more unsettling layer to this critical situation. The incident underscores the urgent need for a more civil and respectful dialogue in American politics and highlights the potential consequences of unchecked political polarization.
