Bali Airport Launches Integrated Post for Smooth 2024 Festive Season Travel
Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has launched an Integrated Post for Transportation Monitoring to manage the expected influx of 1.3 million travelers during the 2024 Christmas and New Year holiday season. This initiative, a collaboration between various stakeholders, aims to ensure smooth and safe travel for all. The post will operate from December 18, 2024, to January 5, 2025.
Peak Travel Days and Airport Capacity
The airport anticipates its busiest day on December 20, 2024, with 489 aircraft movements and approximately 83,635 passengers. Other peak days include December 26 (452 flights, 81,000 passengers), December 29 (503 flights, 80,766 passengers), and January 2, 2025 (467 flights, 79,957 passengers). The airport is equipped to handle these large numbers, but travelers should be prepared for potential congestion.
Increased Passenger Numbers and Travel Advice
The projected daily average of nearly 70,000 passengers during this period represents a 7% increase compared to the January-November 2024 average. Travelers are advised to allow extra time for travel, especially to and from the airport, due to expected heavy traffic, particularly on peak days. Bali’s popular resort areas are experiencing significant traffic congestion, with typical short journeys taking much longer than usual.

The airport acknowledges the potential impact of adverse weather conditions. Recent severe weather caused disruptions to 19 flights. Airport authorities are committed to ensuring safe and efficient travel despite weather challenges, urging travelers to check their flight status before departing.
