Delhi Urban Development Minister and AAP leader, Saurabh Bharadwaj, has alleged that the Bhartiya Janata party (BJP) has mastered the art of running doctored videos and has called for strict action against those responsible.
Bharadwaj’s accusations come in the wake of a doctored video circulating of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s speech on reservations in Telangana on April 23. Police in Delhi, Assam, and Maharashtra have filed three separate cases in connection with the incident and arrested a Congress functionary from Assam.
According to Bharadwaj, the BJP has been editing the remarks of opposition party leaders for months. He specifically mentioned BJP leader Amit Malviya, accusing him of circulating doctored videos. Bharadwaj highlighted Malviya’s old social media posts, which he claims show Malviya’s opposition to reservations.
‘BJP’s social media head Amit Malviya’s old posts are in front of everyone. He was the staunch opponent of reservation and has tweeted several times, is that even fabricated? BJP should tell,’ said Bharadwaj.
The AAP leader’s remarks have sparked a controversy, with the BJP denying the allegations and accusing the AAP of trying to divert attention from its own shortcomings. The incident has also raised concerns about the spread of misinformation and the potential impact it could have on public discourse.
