Delhi Minister Atishi has vehemently denied the allegations of assault leveled against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s personal assistant Bibhav Kumar by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, labeling them as ‘baseless.’ Atishi, in a press conference held on Friday evening, asserted that Maliwal’s claims were unsubstantiated.
In response to a viral CCTV footage depicting Maliwal engaged in a heated altercation with staff at Kejriwal’s residence on May 13, Maliwal accused an unnamed individual of orchestrating efforts to exonerate himself, while asserting that the truth would be revealed upon examination of the CCTV footage from the house and the room where the alleged assault transpired.
The AAP, for the first time, has taken a立场 in the case, refuting Maliwal’s allegations against Kumar. The party has also released a purported video clip from the CM’s residence, purportedly taken on the day of the alleged assault, as evidence against Maliwal.
Meanwhile, Maliwal has been accused of threatening police and Kumar, while it has also been revealed that she did not have an appointment to meet CM Kejriwal at the time of the incident.
The Delhi Police, along with a forensic team, have arrived at Kejriwal’s residence as part of their investigation into the alleged assault. The AAP is expected to issue a statement on the matter shortly.
