A Delhi court has extended the judicial custody of Amanatullah Khan, a senior member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), until September 23. Khan, who represents the Okhla constituency in the Delhi Assembly, is currently under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case involving the Delhi Waqf Board.
The ED had taken Khan into custody earlier this month following a search operation at his residence in Okhla. The agency is probing allegations of financial irregularities and misappropriation of funds within the Delhi Waqf Board, a body responsible for managing Muslim religious properties in the city.
The court’s decision to extend Khan’s judicial custody indicates that the ED’s investigation is ongoing and that further action may be taken against him. Khan has maintained his innocence, claiming that the allegations against him are politically motivated. The case has attracted significant political attention, with both the AAP and the BJP engaging in a war of words over the investigation.
