Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has made serious allegations against Bibhav Kumar, former personal secretary to party chief Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of assaulting her at the Chief Minister’s residence. According to Maliwal, the incident occurred on May 13 when she went to meet Kejriwal at his Civil Lines residence.
Maliwal, in an interview with ANI, claimed that she was asked to wait in the drawing room while Kejriwal was getting ready. However, Kumar came in a state of aggression and allegedly slapped her multiple times. Maliwal alleges that she tried to push him away, but he held her legs and dragged her, causing her head to hit the center table. She claims that Kumar continued to beat her with his legs as she screamed for help.
Maliwal further alleged that Kumar is the closest aide to Kejriwal and is a powerful figure within the party. She suspects that he may have acted on instructions from Kejriwal, but she is not sure. She also criticized the party for allegedly wanting her to resign from her Rajya Sabha seat.
Maliwal’s allegations have created a major storm within AAP, and have raised questions about the safety of women within the party. The Delhi Police have registered a case against Kumar and are investigating the matter.
