The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organized a ‘Walk for Kejriwal’ walkathon in Delhi’s CR Park on Sunday to mobilize support for Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently in jail in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case. AAP minister Saurabh Bharadwaj emphasized the importance of defeating the BJP through the power of votes, while several supporters carried flags bearing Kejriwal’s photo and the slogan ‘Jail ka Jawab Vote Se’ (Answer Jail with Votes). AAP minister Atishi expressed gratitude for the massive turnout, noting that Delhi residents are demonstrating their unwavering support and blessings. She highlighted that the BJP’s strategy to undermine AAP by imprisoning Kejriwal has backfired, as evidenced by the overwhelming participation in Sunita Kejriwal’s roadshow. AAP leader Somnath Bharti took aim at the BJP, alleging that even individuals with significant corruption charges are welcomed into the party and rewarded with high positions. He characterized the BJP as a ‘washing machine’ and emphasized that the walkathon was an initiative to raise awareness about the BJP’s unjust policies. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with a liquor scam and was subsequently transferred to Tihar Jail on April 1. The ED claims to have uncovered evidence linking Kejriwal to illicit activities. Kejriwal has challenged his arrest and remand in the excise policy case by filing a petition in the Supreme Court. The apex court has sought a response from the Enforcement Directorate regarding Kejriwal’s plea. Voting for all seven Lok Sabha constituencies in Delhi is scheduled for May 25, as part of the sixth phase of the general election.
