AAP Ready for Solo Fight in Haryana, Warns of Regret for Underestimating Them

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has taken a firm stance in the upcoming Haryana assembly elections, declaring its readiness to contest all 90 seats independently. This declaration comes amidst uncertainty surrounding an alliance with the Congress, with negotiations currently at an impasse over seat sharing.

AAP National Secretary (Organisation) Sandeep Pathak, during a press conference, declared the party’s preparedness to face the polls with full force. He stated, “We are fully prepared and waiting for the party’s order. As soon as we get the ‘go’ word, we will announce everything. We are prepared to fight the elections with full force on all the seats and those who underestimate us will themselves regret it in the future.”

The breakdown in alliance talks stems from a disagreement on seat distribution. AAP has demanded 10 seats, while the Congress is offering only five to seven, according to sources within both parties.

Earlier in the day, AAP Chief National Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar expressed optimism about reaching a conclusion in the ongoing discussions, while acknowledging that it was premature to comment on the final number of seats AAP would contest. However, AAP sources reported that the alliance talks were on the brink of collapse, with the party considering contesting 50 seats independently.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the alliance, AAP has been actively campaigning in Haryana. Sunita Kejriwal, wife of party chief Arvind Kejriwal, is scheduled to hold public meetings in the state.

It is important to note that AAP and the Congress contested the recent Lok Sabha elections in an alliance in Haryana, Gujarat, and Delhi. In Haryana, AAP contested the Kurukshetra seat, where their state unit chief Sushil Gupta was defeated by the BJP’s Navin Jindal.

With the election date set for October 5th and the last date to file nominations being September 12th, the political landscape in Haryana is set for a heated battle. AAP’s decision to go solo, if confirmed, will add another layer of complexity to the already dynamic race for power in the state.
