Aayush Sharma’s latest action film, ‘Ruslaan,’ has opened to a disappointing start at the box office, despite positive reviews and support from Salman Khan. The film has struggled to surpass the Rs 1 crore daily mark, with its highest recorded earning being around Rs 79 lakh.
Directed by Karan Butani, ‘Ruslaan’ stars Aayush Sharma in the lead alongside Sushrii Shreya Mishraa, Jagapati Babu, and Vidya Malvade. The film faced fierce competition from the Ajay Devgn-starrer ‘Maidaan’, which emerged as the highest-earning film of the weekend with an estimated box office collection of Rs 4.15 crore on its third weekend.
Despite opening to positive reviews and Salman Khan’s endorsement, ‘Ruslaan’ has underperformed compared to Aayush Sharma’s previous films, ‘Love Yatri’ and ‘Antim’, which recorded higher box office openings. ‘Ruslaan’ is estimated to have earned around Rs 2 crore on its opening weekend against a reported budget of Rs 20 crore.
Experts have attributed the film’s poor performance to its lack of novelty and originality. ‘Ruslaan’ features a formulaic action-romance narrative that has been seen in numerous other films, failing to offer anything fresh or distinctive to audiences.
Furthermore, the film’s release strategy may have also contributed to its lackluster performance. ‘Ruslaan’ was released alongside several other high-profile films, including ‘Maidaan’ and ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, which may have divided audiences and limited its potential box office earnings.
Despite the disappointing start, ‘Ruslaan’ has received mixed reviews from critics. Some have praised Aayush Sharma’s performance and the film’s action sequences, while others have criticized its unoriginal plot and lack of depth.
It remains to be seen whether ‘Ruslaan’ will be able to improve its performance in the coming weeks. However, its poor opening weekend has cast doubt on its ability to achieve commercial success.
