Abbey Clancy’s Awkward Blunder on ‘The One Show’ Leaves Guests Red-Faced

During an interview on ‘The One Show,’ Abbey Clancy found herself in an awkward predicament. While promoting her podcast, ‘Exhibit A,’ she listed several accomplished individuals who had been featured as guests, including sports stars and Hollywood celebrities. As she mentioned Chris O’Dowd, who was present on the show to promote his Apple TV+ series, ‘The Big Door Prize,’ Clancy made an unintentional faux pas.

“So we’ve got so many different guests who are all at the top of their game, from sports stars to doctors, to Hollywood stars…” she said, glancing towards O’Dowd.

“Not you,” she added with a playful nudge, eliciting laughter from herself and O’Dowd. “But you can come on if you like.”

O’Dowd responded with a bemused “Thanks…” while former footballer Jermaine Jenas also expressed amusement, adding, “We both got insulted in that as well by the way… ‘sports stars, Hollywood stars but you’re not invited.'”

Clancy then shared that her first podcast guest was Mo Gawdat, a former Google X executive who lost his son tragically in 2014. She explained that Gawdat had subsequently found happiness and dedicated his life to helping others do the same.

The interview turned to Abbey’s personal life, as she discussed her relationship with husband Peter Crouch and their podcast, ‘Therapy Crouch.’ Clancy admitted that Crouch took her comments about feeling unenriched and uninspired by him to heart. She also revealed that Crouch had only apologized a handful of times in their 20 years together, leading to their confessional about their arguments on ‘The Therapy Crouch.’

In the ‘Agony Ab’ segment of their podcast, a man had written in to share that he had been sleeping on the sofa for four nights after upsetting his wife. Crouch quickly defended himself, stating that he had also been “kicked out of bed when he didn’t do anything wrong.” However, Abbey clarified that she did not enjoy sleeping alone and preferred Crouch’s presence in bed, even when they were not on speaking terms.

Clancy also expressed her frustration with Crouch’s stubborn refusal to apologize, even when he was in the wrong. “I would love a mature argument – I can’t stand carrying it on for days,” she said. “I’ve got friends who don’t speak to their husbands for two weeks. You know, just silent treatment.”

Despite her complaints, Clancy also poked fun at Crouch’s stubbornness and inability to apologize, jokingly saying, “I can honestly say in 20 years, I can count on my fingers – on one hand – the amount of times you’ve said sorry. You don’t say sorry. Even when you’re wrong, you don’t say sorry.”
