Abbott Urges Trump to Let Harris Speak in Debate: ‘She’s Not Up to the Task’

Texas Governor Greg Abbott, a long-time Republican figure with experience in both state attorney general and governor roles, has offered advice to former President Donald Trump ahead of the first presidential debate against Vice President Kamala Harris. Abbott, known for his outspokenness and political savvy, suggests that Trump should allow Harris to speak freely during the debate.

Abbott believes that Harris’s lack of experience and policy shortcomings will be readily apparent without the assistance of a teleprompter. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Abbott emphasized, “The more she talks without talking into a teleprompter, the more she shows America that she’s really not up to the task.”

Abbott, a strong supporter of Trump’s bid for the 2024 Republican nomination, suggests focusing on key issues that he believes will resonate with voters. He advises Trump to highlight the border crisis, the rising inflation under the Biden administration, and the increasing crime rates in certain cities, directly linking these issues to the policies of Harris and President Biden.

Abbott, who has been actively campaigning for Trump, asserts that “Americans are going to understand the last thing they want to do is to have Kamala Harris running our country, because it would be run into the ground.”

Abbott, known for his strong stance on border security, sees this as a crucial issue that will continue to be a focal point in his political career. He has repeatedly clashed with the Biden administration on this issue and plans to continue advocating for stricter border control measures in his upcoming bid for a fourth term as Texas Governor in 2026.

Looking ahead to a potential second Trump term, Abbott predicts a more decisive approach from the former president, stating, “He’s going to be far more aggressive this time than he was last time because he has to find a way to course correct from all the damage caused to the United States by Harris and Biden.”

Abbott’s advice to Trump and his emphasis on key issues highlight the importance of the upcoming debate and its potential to shape the course of the 2024 presidential election. As the campaign enters its final stretch, the debate is expected to provide voters with a crucial opportunity to assess the candidates’ positions and policies.
