Aberdeen International Airport, the largest transport hub in the North East, has introduced a new era of convenience for travelers with the installation of cutting-edge Next Generation Security Checkpoint (NGSC) Scanners, allowing passengers to breeze through security without the hassle of removing laptops or liquids.
Departing passengers can now carry liquids in bottles up to two liters in their carry-on bags, as the airport departs from the 100ml liquid rule. Laptops and other electronic devices can also remain stowed away in carry-on bags, streamlining the security process and saving time for travelers.
This upgrade to the latest security protocol is well ahead of the UK Government’s deadline, showcasing Aberdeen International Airport’s commitment to efficiency and ensuring a hassle-free experience for its passengers. With over 2.3 million passengers passing through the terminal last year, this state-of-the-art security system is poised to significantly improve the travel experience for all.
Security Manager at Aberdeen International Airport, William Wallace, said: “We are thrilled to have the NGSC scanners operational at Aberdeen. Thanks to the hard work of our staff and contractors, we are well ahead of the deadline set by the Government. This is one of the most significant changes in airport security in nearly two decades, and we ask passengers to be prepared for this new process and have patience as we implement these enhancements.”
Passengers should note that regulations may vary at different airports. It is recommended to review the procedures at both departure and destination airports to ensure a smooth and seamless travel experience.
