Abhimanyu Easwaran Continues Century Spree in Duleep Trophy

Abhimanyu Easwaran continued his impressive form in the Duleep Trophy 2024, smashing his second consecutive century during India B’s contest against India D in Anantapur on Friday. The 29-year-old Bengal batsman reached the milestone off 154 balls, showcasing his class with eleven fours and a six in the round three fixture. This feat comes just a week after he scored an unbeaten 157 against India C, highlighting his consistency in the tournament.

Easwaran’s century was crucial for India B, who found themselves in a precarious position after losing three wickets in quick succession. However, the captain combined with Washington Sundar for an unbeaten 82-run partnership, rebuilding the innings and giving India B a fighting chance. Despite their efforts, India B still trails India D by over 160 runs.

Easwaran’s consistent performances are a testament to his skill and experience. In his First-Class career spanning 96 matches, he has amassed a remarkable 7180 runs at an average of 48.18. He has also notched 24 centuries and 29 half-centuries, solidifying his position as one of the most reliable batsmen in domestic cricket.

However, despite his consistent performances, Easwaran has found it challenging to secure a regular spot in the Indian Test team. The rise of Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top of the order has limited his opportunities. Nevertheless, his recent form in the Duleep Trophy serves as a reminder of his immense talent and potential to contribute to the Indian team.
