He is the son of liquor baron Lalit Khaitan, the chairman of the company, who himself became a billionaire at the age of 80 last year. Abhishek, currently boasting a net worth of Rs 9180 crore (as of July 8, according to Forbes), is the driving force behind Radico Khaitan’s foray into the branded business.
He holds the position of Managing Director and has been instrumental in shaping the company’s impressive portfolio of brands. Among these are 8PM whisky, Contessa rum, and Magic Moments vodka, which have garnered significant popularity in the market. Radico Khaitan boasts a market cap of Rs 21923 crore, a testament to its success under Abhishek’s leadership.
The Delhi-based company, initially established as a bottler, expanded into the production of bulk alcohol before venturing into the lucrative branded spirits market. Abhishek’s journey began in 1997 when he took the reins of the company’s marketing division. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore, and has further honed his business acumen through a Managerial Finance & Accounting course at Harvard University.
One of his first major ventures was the launch of 8PM Whisky, a brand that achieved phenomenal success, selling one million cases in its inaugural year and earning a place in the Limca Book of World Records. With over two decades of experience in the industry, Abhishek has spearheaded the launch of over 15 successful brands, solidifying his position as a visionary leader.
Recognizing the growing popularity of vodka, Abhishek swiftly launched Magic Moments Vodka, adding another feather to the company’s cap. Other notable brands under the Radico Khaitan umbrella include Morpheus Premium Brandy, Rampur Indian Single Malt Whisky, and Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin.
