Abu Dhabi Airports has witnessed a significant increase in passenger traffic in the first quarter of 2024, attributing to strong international demand for passenger and commercial services. During this period, 6.9 million passengers travelled through its airports, a substantial 35.6% increase compared to the same period last year. Flight movements also saw a rise of 11.4%, totalling 61,737 in the quarter. Zayed International Airport played a critical role in this growth, handling over 6.8 million passengers in this quarter, a surge of 36% from the previous year. This impressive performance was bolstered by the resumption of services by Turkmenistan Airlines and the introduction of a new route to Haikou, China by Hainan Airlines, bringing the total number of operating airlines at the airport to 29. In terms of destinations, London remained the most popular, with nearly 290,000 passengers travelling to and from the city. Other top destinations included Mumbai, Kochi, Delhi, and Doha.
