The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Roshan Modi for accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 on behalf of a Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) official in Thane, Maharashtra. The arrest was made based on a complaint from the owner of a roadside eatery, whose establishment had been sealed by the FDA earlier this month.
According to the complaint, the FDA official had demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the eatery owner. Modi, acting on behalf of the official, allegedly came to collect the bribe.
A trap was set by the ACB on Monday evening, and Modi was caught red-handed while receiving the bribe. A case has been registered against Modi and the FDA official under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The arrest of Modi highlights the ongoing efforts of the ACB to combat corruption in Maharashtra. The bureau has been actively taking action against corrupt officials and individuals involved in bribery and other corrupt practices.
