ACI Honors 12 Airports for Environmental Excellence

ACI Recognizes 12 Airports for Environmental Leadership

The Airports Council International (ACI) for Asia-Pacific & the Middle East recently unveiled the honorees of its Green Airports Recognition 2024. This prestigious accolade recognizes 12 exceptional airports across the regions for their commitment to environmental sustainability.

This year’s focus was on Biodiversity and Nature-Based Solutions, highlighting airports’ initiatives to maintain biodiversity and implement nature-based strategies. These efforts encompass a wide range of initiatives, from plantation activities that reduce carbon footprints and provide social benefits, to initiatives aimed at preserving marine ecosystems, rejuvenating wetlands, cultivating in-house horticulture, and managing wildlife to ensure safe airport operations through ecological means.

The awards were segmented into three tiers – Platinum, Gold, and Silver – each corresponding to different airport sizes and specific criteria. The awards ceremony took place at the prestigious ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East / ACI World Annual General Assembly, Conference, and Exhibition (WAGA 2024) in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
